Author Visit
Stories create a meaningful human connection to the past. My own personal introduction to the Holocaust was through engaging literature, which also became foundational to the literacy programs in the classrooms where I taught. My classroom visits have been shaped by these experiences. When I visit your classroom, I read The Doll: A Child's Survival of the Holocaust. In addition, I am guided by a slide presentation filled with rich, primary historical artefacts - photographs, documents, and maps - that place the story within the context of the Second World War and the Holocaust.
Visits can be virtual or in-person, both lasting approximately an hour. Each class will receive copy of the book for their classroom library. This program is appropriate from students in Grades 6-8.

Professional Development
For more than 15 years, I have been creating impactful professional development sessions about teaching the Holocaust for educators across Canada at both the elementary and secondary school level. These sessions have been both virtual and in-person. They have included one-hour after school sessions, half-day presentations as well as full-day, immersive programs. All are tailored to align with curriculum expectations and meet the specific needs of your learning community. Topics have included: the history of the Holocaust, an introduction to best practices, teaching with testimony, introducing the Holocaust through children's literature, among others.
